the new business developer builds a customer base by securing new business opportunities with new accounts and by targeting competitively-held accounts. they also develop and implement focused plans that align with goals and objectives to increase effectiveness, build market share, and achieve goals.
job tasks
- network, prospect, and generate leads within the region directly
- host and attend industry events and lunches to learn as a subject matter expert. must feel comfortable speaking and presenting in front of others
- generate new business opportunities
- develop and implement business road maps to increase new business and identify expansion opportunities
- meet customer needs by identifying and proposing solutions that fit needs and expand business
- negotiate through complex sales process in order to reach a long-term and mutually beneficial business relationship
- build strong relationships with all dealers involved
- create and retain a positive and responsive image to the Haworth brand in the assigned market
- track and report weekly results for target, existing, and new client face-to-face meetings
- continuous evaluation and identify performance gaps
- develop the action plan to improve performance and implement the plan to successfully meet goals and objectives
skills/requirements:
- bachelor’s degree in business or related field MBA preferred
- 5-7 years experience with business to business sales, including three years experience within marketing or web design industries
- experience facilitating and leading collaborative meetings with key stakeholders and decision makers
- proven ability to create, build, and maintain relationships with end-user customers and influencers
- strong networking skills
- proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
- creative problem solving skills
- must have a strong worth ethic and be able to work independently
